Moldova Steel Works founded in 1985, in 1998 was converted into joint-stock company of a closed type and entered the international group of the companies "Itera". In March 1995 the corporation Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance (LRQA) conducted survey of quality system on correspondence to the requirements of the international standard ISO EN BS 9002:94 ANS/ASQC 9002:94 ”Model of quality assurance at manufacturing, installation and services” in the field of production of continuous cast steel billets and rolled metal (smooth rods, plain round bars, reinforcing, channels, angles and wire rods). Nowadays Moldova Steel Works is a modern, high-efficient firm of ferrous metallurgy possessing world-level know-how, producing continuous cast steel billets, light sections and wire rods made of low carbon, high-carbon and low-alloyed steels in accordance with the standards of CIS-countries and those of the leading countries of the world (DIN, ASTM, BS, ED etc.). Manufacturing power:
- electric Arc Furnace, with the capacity 120 t, and output - 1000000 t of steel per
one year;
- six-strand ContiCaster of radial type for the production of continuous cast steel billets;
- the rolling mill for production of bars and wire rods with its output 700 000 t per one year.
High quality of products corresponding to international standards and to high customers' requirements has allowed the plant to trade successfully for more than 10 years at the world market of ferrous metals. The commodities are sold in all continents, more than in twenty countries of the world. In future further modernization of production is planned with a view to manufacture new kinds of products, to decrease the cost price, to infiltrate to new markets.
